Welcome to the new home of the Lucan Area Trails Association. Our goal is to create and map out walking, running and riding trails in the area surrounding Lucan, Ontario Canada.

The association officially began with an inaugural meeting on March 10, 2010.

With generous seed funding from the Lucan District Lions Association, our next steps are to:
  • Incorporate as a Non-profit Corporation (in progress)
  • Obtain insurance for LATA activies and trails (waiting for confirmation)
  • Determine the first trail to be built
  • Start building trails in and around Lucan (next step)!
The Association has adopted the Lucan Trails Master Plan - June 2010 at the June 2, 2010 meeting as its formal plan for building trails in the near future. While this plan will undoubtedly evolve over time, it allows individuals and other organizations to have a clear picture of the direction of the Association.

The Lucan Trails Master Plan has been reviewed by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA), which "welcomes the opportunity to work cooperatively with the Association..." The complete text of letter from the ABCA to the Township of Lucan Biddulph regarding the Lucan Trails Master Plan can be read here.

Here are some potential trail alternatives for the long term:

Note that any of these trails are dependant on ongoing landowner agreements which may or may not be obtained.
